Hi Belinda,
I am concerned when officers-elect take actions that might indicate skewed priorities. I didn't find out about this stuff until November 7th, ergo the lag time about saying something. I said I don't have a problem with private room deals, or hospitality suites as you put it. It was the timing of this one that bothers me. I'm not one to sit on my hands when something bothers me.
In no way do I disrespect Wayne, nor the way he handled the convention. Nor did I imply that someone played him for a fool. You might have read that into my comment, but that's just not the case. My speculation that there was more to what happened concerning the table swap than meets the eye was and is just that, speculation.
I have emailed the entire (then) current BOD (before Ken was appointed to fill in as VP) in the past concerning an issue that I had. I waited months for a response, from anyone. I received exactly zero response. When an old issue becomes old issue due to no response by going through proper channels, I could take it in silence, or speak up. I choose to speak up, and get my butt kicked for doing so.
I happen to love this club and the hobby. When things happen that look or "smell" bad to me, I won't just sit by and watch what unfolds. I expressed in my parent note to this thread the knowledge that what I was about to do would put me in a bad light in some people's eyes. So be it. My skin is pretty thick.
Count me in as a setup volunteer at the Trop. ...can't make any promises about teardown, I'm usually way too spent by the time the convention ends.
Congrats on being named Co-Chair,
Bob
