Although Boreland may have never misrepresented the chips with the opening and closing dates, he did make others (and in my opinion) with the intention of fooling collectors. Per Jerry W, he had a lawsuit against Boreland at the time Boreland died. The exact amount is in one of my posts in the archives. It was in the 5 figure range. Boreland ordered blanks and hot stamped them in his store and sold them as real chips.
