> I wonder how long the Hilton will be the Hilton. Has anyone heard if Colony plans to change the name?
From what I understand Hilton Hotels and Colony Capital have a 2 year agreement which started at the completion of the acquition of the Las Vegas Hilton by Colony so the name change will probably occur sometime in 2006.
It seems to me that Colony is strongly focusing on the Resorts brand name so I'll take a stab in the dark and guess that the Las Vegas Hilton will eventually become Resorts Las Vegas in line with the other newly acquired properties including Harrah's East Chicago which became Resorts East Chicago and Harrah's Tunica which became Resorts Tunica.
The only exceptions are Bally's Tunica which Colony is licensed by Caesars Entertainment to use for 2 years then they will be required to change it and obviously they can't use Resorts name in Tunica since that is already in use. Atlantic City Hilton which Colony just signed an extension to use that name for several more years and again obviously they can't use the Resorts name again in Atlantic City.
This also makes me wonder if Hilton will go quietly into the night when it's brand is removed from the Atlantic City market or will they try to either build a new property which in the past they fought so hard for and never got because the New Jersey Casino Control Commission denied them a license and finally getting a property through the acquition of Bally's Entertainment and then losing it again after Colony takes the name off the building and casino chips if they don't renew their franchise agreement.
