Have you ever sat with a bunch of friends playing cards in a basement or at the kitchen table in someone's home and have asked the question, "who the hell dealt that hand?" Well the scan below of a neat old marker answers that question.... and solves another puzzle.

The image below is of a male billy-goat, which like a male deer is also called a "buck". At the top of the marker in white print is inscribed, "Your Next Deal". At the bottom it says, "Put Up!" In the card game scenario described above... this marker would be placed in front of the dealer. As the deck of cards moved around the table from player to player to the new dealer each hand; this marker would follow the deck (which answered the question "who dealt that mess".) The button clearly indicated who the dealer was. However, it also solves another puzzle ..... from where the phrase "Pass The Buck" originated.... and now you know the rest of the story.
