Last time I stayed in Ely it was at the Jail House Motel - nice enough and a good steak dinner - but that was in 1988. We also stoped at the Great Basin National Park - it was outstanding. The cave tour was very nice but the high light for me was the Bristlecone Pines - it was just too neat to see trees that were alive before Jesus Christ was born. It is only about a 1 mile hike to see the trees - worth every step. It is so strange that something so long lived would be in such an inhospitable place???
