Much of the devotion to the Prodigy Classic collecting 1 bulletin board is of a nostalgic nature as has already been stated. I've had "Classic" for many years, even since getting my first PC, and can recall the days when Michael Knapp was practically the LONE person on a Hobbies board, praising the fun of
chip collecting. That was what got me started with this hobby. Many of us "cut our teeth" on "Classic", and if it were not for that service, many of us
would not be chip collectors today.
Sure, the boards like Greg's and Chequers are great, and have a wider usage.
I for one, hope that all such venues can thrive. For those of you who disagree with Jim's promoting the Prodigy Classic board here on Greg's board, then you should also disagree with those ex-Prodigy users who have, here on Greg's board, made statements of doom about the Prodigy board. If its OK for some people to ridicule Prodigy as being a "dinosaur" or whatever words have been used in the past, then it should also be OK for Jim or anyone else to promote the service. Michael pointed out that you now get BOTH Prodigy Internet and Classic for the same $19.95 per month. And, if you prepay for 12 months, they offer both for $ 15.75/month, or $ 189.00 for the full year.
Prodigy Internet is an excellent service, offers each user 6 MB of free space for your own web site, excellent sites for travel, sports, business, etc. Prodigy Internet does have live chat rooms, as well as the rooms we are familiar with on Classic. It would be great to have more collectors join the combined services and have large turnouts in weekly chat sessions.
