Hi Andy!
Boy you but in a though spot.
With that question.
Do i think david is doing a good job.
Man david is a great friend of mein. I think he does a good job when he has the time. But i think most of our board members are really busy. I don't see this hobby moving forward. I think we should do more to actively recruit members and get our logo out there.
I think also that the national club should be able to overrule local clubs on certain issues. Its just a like a company. Local president has to answer to national president. And national president should have the right to assign certain tasks.
I also think we should do more thinks to raise money for the club. A auction in the club magazine like bill had in his would be perfect.
I wrote a 3 page letter on the club site on how to set up a program where delaers would donate a certain small percentage of their club sales towards the club promotion. DID I EVER GET A REPLY OR A EMAIL OF COURSE NOT.
People told me well you have the problem most peolpe say they are not dealers.
But many admit it. In order to protect yourself for the club so we let people know who a official dealer is we could give each contributing dealer a plaque which says he is a dealer and help to fund the club with dealer fee's. They would also get a special logo on their Web sites. And the CC>CC would promise the customer they would try to resolve any disputes.
This will protect is from the guys that say they are not dealers but have a table with over 30,000 worth of chips for sale. I can name at least 10.
Hey i collect but i am also a DEALER.
There is many things we can do.
We just have to do them.
Don't even get me started on the local club we should be the biggest club in the nation. Most people don't even attend the meetings. That should be changed.
We have a bank roll of less than $1500 the Las Vegas Club offers a room for $100 per meeting. Tropicana Club offered us a free room and we voted for the las vegas club.
now i know i get in trouble for saying this:
But I was there when the voting was going on and the way is was represented You felt like you were an outsider if you voted for the trop.
Bill Judge brought the idea board of going to the Trop and Jerry spoke against it he has personal issues with the Trop, we all know they are with Steve Cutler.
He said we can't trust the trop they say one thing but do another.
One person suggested that we get both offers in writing and vote next meeting.
Jerry said no we have to vote now and that's it.
So we have a bankroll of $1500 we get more dues in always but next year will cost us $1200 to get the same thing we coulda gotten for free. Anybody with a little common sense can see the error here. But we are ignorant and have to fight with each other so we rather blow $1200, than do the best for the club.
Now jerry is resigning in December, but has signed a 1 year contract so the new president be powerless in that case. That's why i didn't run for local election. Because i know someone will asked this :)
One more example:
A lot of people hate steve cutler, why i have no glue.
Because trop issues only 100 of their $25 chips. I can name many more places who do that. Anyway.
He created the the Hall of Fame Museum.
Everyday between 2000-4000 people go thru it. To look and stare and the collectibles. There is not information about the club there. Its been open for over a year now. Steve has offered on several occasions. That should be our #1 source to get new members.
Those are just a few things that come to mind now.
Oh and another think people email me and tell me i am in the Camoiglia and Cutler group. What is that. Yeah they are my friends. But so it Tremble Perlowskie ( I know I probably misspelled it.) and about 100 more chippers i consider close friends. Even the O'neals i have many differences with them but when it comes down to the human basis i consider them friends. We just have different views on club politics. Just meet Peter Prowse and his wife great people meet for the first time by accident on a Pai Gow table. They are from Canada and customers of mein. And they are great people we had a lot of fun with them.
Also i know most people thing i am full of it. But i been doing antiques since i was 11 and seen things come and go. Any of you ever collect swatch watches.
Cheapest old once are like $100 up too $50,000 they had a big worldwide club but never promoted the hobby and tried to get other people into. These days swatch watches went down in a value by a lot. Most collectors quit.
And i don't care how much personal fun you have with chips. I love my chips.
But if my collection is worth $100,000 today and $15,000 in a yeart or two i be disapointed.
These are just a few things that came too mind.
Of course i typed to much again. Hey Andy how do you like the new shirts?
