I didn't have time to read all of the posts on this topic but I do have one additional comment that I bet no one has covered.

I have had to travel thru Ohio numerous times and am still surprised at the number of redneck hillbillies. I know that sounds strange since I always thought of Ohio as a moderately progressive state but there are a large number on citizens still living in the 1920's. Of course they can't compete with the east Tennesse hillbillies. I have lived here 15 years and still can't understand their accent and one of them worked for me for 11 years.
