Bob; Responding to your question; "Do you have a figure on how many $5 LE's were released in the same time frame? How about $10's and $20's? I'd hazard a guess that more chips of a higher denomination than $5 were issued than were $5 chips."
Yes, I've got that figure.... thanks to Wayne Burt and Mike Custodio's meticulous record keeping which they make avaiable free of cost at A.C. Chapter meetings. First let me say, here are the total number of commemorative chips that have been issued since September 14, 1992 when Caesars issued the first of the so-called commemorative series..... the Caesars "blackhead" issue of 100,000! From that day until present, there have been 219 commemorative chips of all denominations issued in Atlantic City. The only A.C. casino that has not issued a commemorative chip is Showboat. This figure may be somewhat misleading as there are several NCV and NV chips included in that number. Chips such as the 21 piece Resorts that were given to players who earned so many points each week... to non value in-house issues marking casino executive birthdays and one for a ncv issued for a private party "Roast" of a casino executive and two issues for 20 year employees that were not available to the
general public.. so lets round it out to 200 since 1992. The first $25 was issued
As for comparisons over the same time period of the first of six $25 issues from Ceasars since 1998, there have been 28 $5 commemorative chips issued and a combination of 20 $10's and $20's. So it's basically 50/50... there have been just about as many $5's as there have been $10's, $20's and $25's when combined. A.C. has not had a $100 commem.... yet! If one is ever issued, it will probably be again from Caesars possibly for a major title fight. We don't have 50 mountain peaks to celebrate here in the flat lands of the Jersey Shore <g> or The Lodge!
