Since there has been such a positive response, I would like to present a challenge that will create a defined, positive action to benefit the club, convention and interenet comaraderi for the next convention at the Trop. As in years past, there always are members offering to help when they arrive in Vegas, but try and find them when you need immediate help. One of the tasks that takes a lot of manpower and about an hour of your time is SETTING UP THE TABLES AND CHAIRS ON THE BOURSE FLOOR, THE DAY BEFORE DEALERS SET UP!!!. Four three to five days prior to the convention, chippers are attending "courtesy suites " for 23 hours a day provided by various chip entrepreneurs that would like to give early birds some opportunity to have some pre-show intercourse. And boy do they.. (I heard more was sold in the suites than at the convention)....but try to get any of them to help set chairs up just before the convention. Last year, about 4 of us and Janice spent 4 hours on a job that could have taken one hour if we could get any of those "chippers" out of the upstairs suites to arrange the chairs and tables.
Now the challenge.....commit now on-line to the convention chairman that you will be there to help and then send a note signed in blood, that should you suffer a herniated disk (as I just did) you will get a replacement to be there.
Most of us get to Vegas at least the day before the show and can find the half hour to help these last minute but very tiring tasks. I have not discussed this with the convention chairman, and stand corrected if he has already enlisted enough help
