Hi Wayne,
I know that Chuck appreciates the job well done on the '99 Convention, as does everyone that I know of.
There are concerns about the 2000 Convention contract with the Tropicana. Is it the originally proposed contract that the Trop offered the club? Is the club guaranteeing 1000 room nights, and if so, how many are guaranteed on the premium rate nights of Friday and Saturday? I believe the figure quoted is $85 per night for Friday and Saturday. If the rooms aren't filled by the club, is the club liable for them? Is the club liable for a minimum $10,000 in in-house catering? Does the club have to pay for any and all meeting rooms other than the bourse floor during the convention? Does the club have to pay union scale to elevator operators to deliver dealer stock (how many dealers want to hand their stock over to a stranger just to take it upstairs) to the floor housing the bourse floor? There are also some non-profit tax issues that are conflicting concerning auctions within Clark County and how the State of Nevada views the same activities.
....if the club is liable for the rooms at the weekend rate, it could be quite expensive if the reservations fall short. 50 rooms a night on those two nights is $8500 out the door for a "free" showroom (along with all of the other conditions).
Are these the provisions of the signed contract with the Trop?
Thanks,
Bob
