The average sell rate according to Ebay is 39% of all items listed, which tells us alot of stuff doesn't need to be listed.

Ebay isn't happy about that either as they don't collect a Final Value Fee on 61% of items offered for sale.

My numbers for January, February, and March. During the three month period I ran 667 auctions with a combined sell average of 87.7%.

February 100%(Only time we ever did that)

March 83.9

If I can consistently move 80% of this junk to a completed sale I am very happy.

There is always the option of relisting...A couple years ago I did a three month study to see if it was worth relisting items. Of the items we decided to relist 68% of them sold. In that case you aren't out anything as Ebay cancels charges for first time it was listed and didn't sell.

Ebay is a terrific medium to sell in but the seller has to do his part. Good pictures, accurate descriptions, no gouging on shipping, and communication with your customers builds customer satisfaction and repeat buyers.

Simply put, the day a specialty auction site can show me that their listers are enjoying better numbers than that I will be there...
