I had my say on this a while back and was going to leave it alone, but...
I understand the timing issues with the mag. I understand not wanting to waste an expensive mailing to a bunch of disinterested members. I don't understand the SASE. What's wrong with letting anyone who formally expresses interest vote? Nominating is one way to express interest. Mailing an empty nomination form could be another. Emailing Archie could be another. Why make the person who doesn't know what to nominate, or misses the nominating deadline, but is willing to go to the trouble to express interest and vote, a second class member? Why aren't the nominating members asked to send a SASE?
If the club can afford to mail ballots to everyone who nominates, and would be delighted in EVERY member nominated a chip and therefore expressed interest in this contest, why not simply include those members who specifically, expressly request to be included? Why the SASE?
