We are all fascinated with the turning over of the zero's and having to write "2" to start the year, but the fact is that the century (and the millennium) don't end until NEXT year.
Simple explanation --- in our calendar system, there was no year zero. It started with year "1", the first century ended at the conclusion of the year "100"; the first millennium at the end of "1000"; and so on.
