No, no, no! Not that kind of rehab.
Cindy and I financed our youngest daughters first house a month ago and three of us have been working full time, 7 days a week ever since to get it completely livable. We did all of the work ourselves except installing the flooring and a new sump pump. After one month we are done! (OK only the inside is done but that is another story)
We started out with a HUD foreclosure and replaced almost every thing - all of the flooring, kitchen cabinets and countertops, bathroom vanities and plumbing, light fixtures, door knobs, paint throughout, window blinds and on and on and on. About $10,000 later we finally got her moved in today. ($10K was the budget so it was good that we did all of the labor). I haven't been this tired and beat up in 30 years. But we did learn that with a little work you can greatly improve the value of a run down house.
Boy, I NEED a vacation. Too bad I have to wait until May first for our trip to New Orleans. I may need some of the other type of rehab after that trip.
