The microdot is useless unless you suspect the chip is bad.
They are what we call altered chips, painting small denoms to look like high denoms. Put several of them in a stack (at the appropriate position, so they won't cut to the top of a 4 or 5 chip cut)of $100's and try to cash them.
Painted chips normally will not play on the tables. You can't paint that good,
