We thought that there was a very good chance that it was from the El Dorado Club in Las Vegas that became Binion's Horseshoe. Since it could not be confirmed, we listed it as "Attributed To..."

Howard Herz has it in his auction catalog #24 as "unknown", possibly California.

Doug Saito, in his Chip Chat #14, Jan. 1999, agreed with TCR that it probably was from El Dorado, LV. Doug states that the TK mold (TK Specialty) was in operation from 1939-1958 and that most sales were to Nevada and western states. The mold was also used at the Monte Carlo and Las Vegas Club, which were open in downtown LV at the time of the El Dorado. Although he could not confirm it either, Doug said that he would bet on it being from the El Dorado Club. He sold the chip for 75.00 in 1999. If it ever is confirmed for LV, the value will be much higher than 75.00.

Whether the attribution is soft or hard, the true answer may never be found. Each of us can decide if he or she wants the chip and the value that he or she places on it. Nobody ever said that this hobby would be easy. You make your choice.
