Hiram Walker & Sons, Limited, a Canadian distillery company, made a series of advertising poker chips for their whiskey brands made in the USA. I’ve identified chips with six different brands: American Bourbon, American Rye, Canadian Club, Father Time Bourbon, Imperial Whiskey, and Mountain Ridge Bourbon.
The chips are known (to me) in white, red, and blue, and have a common reverse. The scan shows an example of the obverse of the Imperial Whiskey chip (left), and an example of the common reverse (right). These are nice embossed clay poker chips.
What’s my point? Well, I have a few questions…
#1 – What year(s) were these chips made, and how were they distributed? A chip with each bottle? A mail-in coupon for a set?
#2 - Has anyone ever seen these chips in a color other than white, red, or blue? I’m wondering if these chips exist in yellow and/or green. If you have any of these chips in another color I’d very much appreciate it if you could post a scan.
#3 – Are there any other whiskey brands advertised on this series of chips?
#4 – Does anyone have any of these chips or ? I’m interested! Especially the red chips.
Thanks in advance for any help.
