I wouldn't leave you guys hanging! Matter of fact, was just about to post the pic below when I saw your post- you beat me to the punch!
Max II is fine, as you can see- less ribs and vertebrae visible; he eats better than I do
The little one in the back of the pic is the problem- she has attacked him several times already (part pitbull in her as well although I suspect the Chow part is what makes her so aggressive).
Max does have a good escape technique though! Must be a Steve McQueen fan...He's made it out twice...OVER the fence mind you. So now I've put up wire and it looks like Checkpoint Charlie, but he's not going anywhere.
AND my suspicions were confirmed- a woman saw me with him and said that that was the dog from the crackhouse she had been so worried about. This explains the burns on his nose and why he flipped out when he saw my sidearm. She also offered to help foot the vet bill (!!!!!) Of course I politely declined, like a dork.
