some have heard this story, some haven't (it turns out with a happy ending for all ...). One night, before going to bed, I thought I'd give one quick run-through. During my search, I immediately came upon an auction for a 50 cent HCE Caesars Palace chip for a "Buy-it-Now" of $3 or so. The chip looked like it had a crack in it, but for three bucks....so, I bought it. I then proceeded to check out his other auctions...and used the "Buy-it-Now" for all of them. I "Pay-Pal'd" the seller immediately...some guy in Vegas.
The next morning, the seller contacted me with an offer to buy eight or ten other Las Vegas chips that he had. He wasn't real descriptive ( a Sands, a Casino chip, a Sahara...) and said that the chips were in good condition (he did tell me that the Caesars chip DID have a crack), but....so I bought them at his offered price. Less than $50 for the whole bunch, including S&H.
WELLLLLLLLL..."A" Casino chip turned out to be "The Casino" chip....worth more than my entire collection at the time. I sold the "The Casino" chip to a friend and Pay-Pal'd the seller a nice portion of my financial gains, for which he was extremely grateful.
That will be MY "dream" chip story...right place, right time -- and very, very lucky!! Steve B
(PS...after I realized what I had bought, I did contact Jim Pierre for his take on this deal in relation to Code of Ethics #9 and he put my worries to ease)
