Answer: One degree. If you said, "360 degrees" or anything other than "one degree," you are to be congratulated on getting this far, but you are obviously out of your league. Turn in your pencil, and exit the room.
The hour hand on a clock makes a complete revolution (360 degrees) every 12 hours. 12 hours is 720 (12 x 60) minutes. Thus the hour hand moves 1/2 degree (360/720) every minute, not 1/60 of a degree every minute. To figure out how far the hour hand moves in one hour, either multiple 1/2 degree by 60 = 30 degrees or divide 360 degrees by 12 = 30 degrees. So an hour hand moves 30 degrees in one hour.
