I spent some Google/OR.gov time trying to find some vote numbers and I agree, would be interesting to find the political persuasion of the one wrong voter.
I do agree with Mr. Harker though, this question gets strong opposion from both sides. I like listening to local talk radio and comparing that to other news media. The question of gambling is a prime topic in this state. The State of Oregon has lottery, sports betting and video poker all run by the state. Any day now the poker video terminals will feature slot machine games as well. The ongoing manuvering to increase the size and scope of Indian casinos in the state is pretty interesting too. The most belivable debate by the citizenry on casinos, gambling and all related topics comes from a local Portland right-wing radio talk show I check out everyday. Both sides agree...they both like it or they both dislike it! Blue voters or red don't seem to agree on anything in this regard. Ambivalence, love, distaste seem to come from any direction. Everybody does agree on ONE thing...Libertarians are loons.
Mostly my point was the public benefit of charity vs. the Gov. taking care of everything.
