Andy, For many years Joe DiMaggio's sister signed all his autograph requests that were sent to him. While he lived in Hollywood, Florida I had the great good fortune of meeting him on the golf course as well at charity events for the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital & Don Shula's foundation to raise money for breast cancer research & education. He was always somewhat aloof, but if you happened to run into him on the back 9 or out on the fairway waiting to take his shot, he would tell stories of his days roaming center field in Yankee Stadium. He graciously singed a number of autogragphs for me which were very different than the ones I had gotten in the past. He would never sign bats & rarely signed baseballs. I have Life magazine covers from the 40's & 50's that he signed, a number of photos similar to the ones on eBay, & a menu from Don Shula's restaurant with Shula, Bob Griese, DiMaggio & Lord Wedgewood who was referred to as Freddie, as well as a number of football & baseball players who were in Shula's golf tournament. A real dignified man who refused to talk about his life with Marilyn. If someone brought up her name, he would fly into a silent rage & storm off.
