If you are selling the only ethical thing to do is charge your buyer what it costs to ship the item...No more...no less...If your stuff is such low priced junk that you need to recover on that front you need to re think the crap you are selling.
My good customers always get free shipping and insurance and they deserve it.
On matchbooks, Postcards, and other light items I always pay the shipping. Then, on heavier items if they are a good repeat buyer I still pay the freight and insurance. Why wouldn't you...Just the same as getting comps in a casino.
Bubble envelopes, gas for car, listing fees, final fees, food for the dog, fur ball pills for the cat, tape, whatever, should be treated as a cost of doing business.
If the crap you are selling won't realize a decent profit to pay for that overhead...Get out..you are loosing money and overcharging your customers.
A good seller picks up alot because he is happy with his customers. The repeat business from these people more than makes up for a few freebies.
Of course, If you are listing crap on Ebay with a starting price of one cent or 99 cents this probably wouldn't pan out for you. But then again, why bother with junk like that, what is the point???
I am a reputable seller for casino collectibles and customer satisfaction is what it is all about. I treat people the way I like to be treated.
This constant gouging on shipping and handling is bulls88t!!
JMHO,
Mark
