Bob,
I noticed these color differences on a lot of the chips from this Series when they first came out. The outer rims are often times two tones of the same color, like the blue chips you show. Also the lettering is lighter or darker on some of the same color chips.
I have just chaulked this up to production differences in various batches of the same chip. I believe these chips were made in Mexico - someone correct me if I'm wrong - and sometimes the Quality Control was not the greatest. I HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO GET THE LEAST WORN EXAMPLES FOR MY COLLECTION - AND HAVE LET THE COLORS FALL WERE THEY MAY.
If you really tried you could preobably come up with 3, 4 or 5 different versions of some of the same color chips and lettering and all you would acomplish would be to drive yourself crazy.
These color differences occur a lot with other chips also. Some people try to collect the various hues, but in general they are ignored by most collectors, unless you come up with an entirely NEW color, such as an eighth roulette color or a very distinctive BACKUP chip..
Till later,
"Mr. Roulette"
