They are in use across the country - the Westcliff still has about a dozen live tables, but also 2 of the big wheels with seats around it and about 40 of the single terminals which have a small wheel by itself which feeds to a video display on each machine.
The automatic terminals are very popular - one of the main reasons (from talking to people playing them) is that you get a seat (not always possible on a crowded busy table) and can stay seated throughout the game, and that you don't have people leaning over you which happens once you get near to a full table on the live game. Also there is no waiting around while the dealer pays out, which is slow on a busy table.
I prefer the live version, but I can see the attraction for some people, and obviously for the casino with no manpower required (which is always a problem in some casinos here because of the relatively low wages).
Of course very few interesting roulette chips in the UK anyway!
