An evening at Table Mountain
In Response To: for sale$5 Table Mtn.,Friant, CA ()

I was in Fresno this weekend for the state cross country championships, and after dinner with 85 of my closest friends at a local Marie Calender's, I decided to play a little poker at Table Mountain on Friday night. The poker room has a total of 9 tables, and when I arrived at 9:00 PM, there were roughly 70-80 names on both the $3-$6 board and the $2-$4 board. Only about 50 on the $6-$12 kill board.

I decided to wait 'em out.

Went out in the table games area and, well, you can forget about actually getting a seat at a table. There was a wait just to get close enough to WATCH a table game. Unreal.

About an hour and a half later, I got a seat. I decided that since I had such a long wait, I was gonna play for at least 3 hours, and I did. Worked out well grin

Got to bed at about 2:30, woke up fresh as a daisy at 7:00. A beautiful day to watch some races... 50 degrees, rainy, very windy. Lots of fun, let me tell you.

The boys had won the Division IV state championship twice in the last 4 years. The girls team won the state championship for the last 3 years. This year, though, the freshman class at Oak Park High School was so large, that they moved up to Division III and neither team was considered to be a factor state-wide.

Anyway, the boys wound up coming in 5th overall, with a tiny spread between the first 5 schools.

The girls (my daughter's on the team - the tall one second from the left below) wound up 3rd. It was spectacular watching 'em, they ran a great race and all seven of them came in within maybe 30 seconds of each other. The coach was crying for a half an hour when he got the results.

But I digress. Table mountain needs more poker tables... I think that was the point I was trying to make. Come to think of it, maybe we should get a little group of us and just open a nice little room up there in Fresno.
