Hi Wayne, I am very sorry to have caused you distress. Anything I said was NOT meant to have any reflection on you. Some people are like me, when I'm told something by the time I'v slept I've forgotten what I was told. It's kinda like the mule and the two by four. One announcement two months ago is alrady gone out of the mind. Maybe we need ads like Casinorama and Blast From the Past spread around for the convention. Maybe when this coming issue of the club magazine is in members hands that will get the word around to everyone.
The last time we talked the contract at the Trop still had not been signed, and I have heard nothing sine that time. To me, until the ink is on the paper, nothing is "official". Of course we had a signed paper at the Aladdin and that didn't mean anything either! One year we had the wooden nickels all made and THEN the date of the convention was changed by one week, so we had to do them all over again.
The responsibility of the convention souvenirs has always been handled by the club officers (mostly myself communicating with Dick Allard). Dick has always felt he needed authorization from an officer before he went spending club money. I gave the new officers all the information and got the distinct impression convention souvenirs were not an important issue. In other years we have had the new wooden nickels to hand out at the ANA Convention in August for the next years CCTGCC event. Not so this year. Again absolutely no reflection on you, as the convention chairman has never been involved in this process. As you well know you have plenty enough to keep you occupied.
Since I had the feeling the Trop was not an absolute done deal "ON PAPER", I was pushing the officers to make sure everything was set up so your job would be a little easier maybe, with the suggestion that contract time is just around the corner. I am quite confident that you have everything in place and under control from your end. Besides don't nit pick, October is next week!! Janice
