Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (2004)

This Republic was founded in the war between Armenians and Azerbaijanis between 1988 and 1994, when a cease fire was arranged. It is not yet recognized and is in the same status as Transdniestria, Somaliland, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and North Cyprus. (2 notes are featured tonight) Hope You Enjoy!

The images on the 2 dram note are all from the Gandzasar Monastery. The main church on the front is the Cathedral of Hovhannes Mkrtich. The cross on the back is a facade relief on this church. The people motives, a king on front side and Jesus motive on back side, are from church interiors of the Gandzasar Monastery.

The images on the 10 Dram note are mostly from Dadivank Monastery. The buildings on the front side are the Church of Arzu Khatun (The main church) , the Church of St Hasan (The small at right), and the Belltower at left of the tower of the Arzu Khatun Church. The icon motives are from the interior of Arzu Khatun Church.

The back side depicts the Khudaaferin bridge over the river Arax, a Karabakh carpet and a stylized wine barrel.
