Tonight's note comes from another little known country of Transnistria. Transnistria is little known to most other than Robert Touts who, I am sure, has family and friends there! Transnistria Moldovian Republic was formed in 1990 even before the separation of Moldovia from Russia. Tonight's note is a 1996 issue of an overprint of 10,000 Rublei on a 1 Ruble. Much like US currency the design is simular on all denominations. The portrait is of General Alexander Vassillevitch Suvurov at the right. On the back is the Parliment Building. 100 Ruble is the largest denomination used and the exchange rate on the Rublei is meaningless due to the conversion and later currency reform. Hope You Enjoy!
