Victory! EBay OK's "illegal chip"use

Success at last. Good news for collectors of “illegal club chips.”

I have convinced eBay to change its policy and allow sellers to put the expression “illegal chip” or “illegal club chip” in auction headings.

EBay, understandably, does not want certain prohibited (illegal) products sold on eBay -- drugs, explosives, guns, etc. This led them to cancel (obliterate all record of, not just end) auctions that had the phrase “illegal chip.” They usually just did this if someone “ratted” on the seller.

Below I have reproduced the e-mail between eBay and myself.

It might take eBay a while to implement the new policy. I’d wait a while, and then start with just one auction.

Here is the e-mail (edited a little):

Hello Robert,

Thank you in advance for your patience.

We have reviewed the issue regarding the use of the term "illegal" in an
auction. Normally, this term is grounds for ending an auction. However, we
do understand that there are exceptions to every rule. In this case, the
exception is casino chips. We will allow the use of the term illegal casino
chips.

Again, our apologies for not fully understanding the use of the term in
relation to casino chips. It sounds like we need to visit Las Vegas more
frequently. ;-)

We have placed a note in your file regarding this ruling to ensure there is
no further confusion, as well as to amend our previous warning for offering
to sell "illegal" chips.

Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding. We wish you the
best of luck with your coming auctions.

Regards,

Lulu

Hello Robert,

Thank you for your reply.

We are very sorry that you feel under attack. This is certainly not the
feeling we want folks to have while buying and selling on the site. You
are a valued member of our community and we wish to provide you the
support you deserve to make your eBay experience an enjoyable one. Lets
face it...eBay is meant to be fun.

We thank you for providing information regarding the term used to
describe certain casino chips (illegal). Generally, the term illegal may
not be used to describe items on the site. However, we will re visit
this considering the information you have provided. Not being familiar
with Casino chips, we did not realize this term was common place.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. We will get
back to you with a decision as quickly as possible.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Lulu

I want to add this to my appeal to get your ruling overturned in this
matter.
(1) Let me first emphasize that I am being attacked by jealous and
malicious people and ........... who resent others of my auctions which
expose people selling cheap poker chips as valuable casino chips.
(2) the chip collecting world refers to these antique chips as "illegal
club" chips. That is the universally accepted expression. They all put
that in the SEARCH ENGINE................ This
distinguishes the chips from those of licensed casinos. Call me if you
don't understand this. Everyone uses the expression "illegal club
chips." I would be at a disadvantage if I couldn't.
(3) I have great feedback (no negatives) and am a stockholder.
