You cannot protect the chips from melting even after a few minutes. The temp inside the safe will be too high for chips for them to hold their shape.

Buy the safe for anti-theft reasons, not fire, especially if it increased costs, foot print and weight and conversely, storage size.

But then again, this is just my opinion.
