...most readers of this board think that the seller is MORE responsible for problems with the USPS than the buyer. If the seller can prove that the item was mailed and has the receipt, why is he responsible for non-delivery by the Post Office? It seems to me that the seller is NO MORE or NO LESS responsible than the buyer for what may happen once the package is placed in the hands of the USPS.
Example. You purchase a chip from me. I offer you insurance at the real cost. You decline to take the insurance since the chip is only valued at $5-10. I send the package to you through the USPS. I have a receipt that shows I mailed an item to your zip code with the date mailed. The item is lost in the mail. Most readers here feel that I am responsible for replacing the item or issuing a refund. Can someone tell me what I've done wrong in this example? I have no more control over the operations of the USPS than the buyer does. Why am I responsible for something beyond my control?
