I agree with Gene. Poker is one exception where very good players can make money, as long as they play big enough games to compensate for the rake. The other exception is the very expert blackjack player. I am talking about very expert card counters. I am not talking about the players that have read a book and practiced for a few days and go into a casino thinking they can now "count cards". I am talking about a very skilled counter that has practiced for years and is good enough where he can carry on a conversation, look around, look like they are having fun, and still count cards ACCURATLY and know what to do in all situations.. They unlike the Craps and Roulette players with a "system" these players are NOT welcomed by the casino with open arms! This is why one of the biggest challenges that this "top 1%" of blackjack players has, is to be allowed to play. This is why I took up poker a few years back. The best poker players in the world are celebrities. While the best blackjack players in the world have to disguise themselves and risk being arrested for trespassing to play their game. I would not be considered a top level blackjack player, but I am good enough that at least 4 casinos have asked me not to come back to play blackjack. So I took up poker! I have found that I enjoy playing poker more anyway. I still like to play a little blackjack now and then, but I am not as serious as I used to be about it. So in my mind Poker, and the top 2% of Blackjack Players can beat the Casino's long term.
