Jim,
I used to live in Spain, in Puerto de Santa Maria in the province of Cadiz (not too far from the city of Cadiz.) At the time--the early 1980s--the only casino in the area was the Casino Bahia Cadiz in Puerto de Santa Maria. The casino was open 24 hours a day, though most of the action was after 9 p.m. The casino had baccarat, French and American roulette (all tables have single zero), blackjack and, during the summer season, chemin de fer in the private room behind the bar (don't worry about getting in there--all that is in the private room is one chemmy table.) and craps on a New York style table. Also a few slots. The croupiers were Spanish but the management was brought in from England.
The club has a disco, movie theatre and restaurant, and there is a bar and small snack bar inside the casino.
If you buy chips with U.S. currency at the cage, you can cash out up to that amount in U.S. currency and the rest in pesetas. If you buy in with pesetas, you cash pesetas.
It cost a few hundred pesetas (at the time some $3 or $4 books) to get in and you need your passport. The dress code is pretty loose as it's a resort town. Jenas are OK, but shorts probably not. No need of a jacket and tie.
Of course, we are talking about nearly 18 years ago, so things might have changed!
Cheers,
Russ
