Short version, yes it's OK. Yes they are insured for cost not selling price. I ship "stuff" almost every day, UPS, since 1970, and have had little trouble. When a shipment does get lost it's insured for my cost.

With collectibles and antiques it gets a little bit trickier.

But the answer is yes they will take chips and yes they will insure them.
