When I worked for Harrah's about 7 or 8 years ago we never had a box person. The dealers (us) counted all the money, if we were working purple or orange just reach in a grab a stack, set up our own hop bets, ect. When a floor decided to come by we just let him (her)know what was going on. Needless to say they were burned more than once on hop bets and buy-in scams among other things. They quickly learned its far cheaper to pay some lump dealer that's better off never touching a chip anyways to put on a tie, sit there, and look pretty.
