Because of Bill Borland, Archie Black and I had some heated snail mail in the early 90's relating to those infamous reproductions by Bud Jones and sold by Borland. I got stuck with a lot of them at too high price for those days and recall sitting down with Bud Jones trying to tie down their origin and use. He said they were back-up chips to track high rollers that would cash them in at other casinos. Then they were stolen inlays. Then they were fakes made from stolen inlays. Then I saw them for sale on keyrings after I paid a premium for them.....Anyway, Bill was not easy to deal with because he really did not know chips that well and was more of a man about town than a chip expert. He just wanted to tell stories in his office while I was more interested in getting bicentennials. I am sure Archie recalls our debate when I tried to back Borlands wild stories up. The bad ole' days...My blue book is full of nasty notations when I used to get upset when he would send the wrong chips or charge too much.....Starr really knew her stuff but Bill really knew the ways around Las Vegas....
