I was underimpressed - only because of the build up from another friend. But I think I got my money's worth (I wanted a place that was cheap and close to the airport).
I started by getting there around 11pm and trying to check in. He would start the process and the phone would ring and he would answer the phone and help the person on the phone. Then he would come back and the phone would ring again (at night one person does the front desk and operator duties).
After the 4th time I said... "we are so close to the end... I need you to just FOCUS for a couple more minutes".
So I get to my room. I think I really stayed at Key Largo. I was closer to the KL casino than I was to Terribles. The room was clean but OLD. I thought they had gutted the place when they rebuilt. If they did they rebuilt it with old carpets, furniture, TV, and bathroom fixtures. If you want a cheap room with a shower then it works.
I can say that pretty much across the board the people working there (at the convenience store, slot card, slot attendants, etc) were very nice.
