I can not answer anyhing with certainity about the $1 chip. The reason being, I did not have it, so I did not ask questions about it. I was only concerned about chips I had.
My opinions:
Your $1 has to be real.
If HN bought 50¢ then there is no reason they did not buy the $1.
The reasons given to me by my contact, for HN buying from Borland was:
1. He had friends at the casino. (Borland had friends at many casinos)
2. He could come close to matching the chips we already had in play. BJ was no longer selling them.
The fact that Armin had them means they probably came from the Borland estate. Borland would have made an over run just like all the distributors used to do.
When I 1st talked to my contact at BJ about these, he told me he knew Borland well. He even had a Borland signed Blue Book. One of the 1st things he told was Borland never copied an open casinos chips. All of the other chips credited to Borland was closed years before Borland had access to the molds.
As far as getting it fixed in TCR, your on your own. I spent several years getting mine fixed.
BTW both HN $1 in TCR have issue dates 1950's and 60's. The mold wasn't made until 1971.
