discussed here are commemorative chips that really shouldn't fool anyone. They're kinda cool looking with the opening & closing dates and a resemblance with regards to the logo...but they weren't issued with the intent to defraud collectors (although, when you see some of these on , the intent of the seller(s) may not be quite as honorable).
With regards to some of the other Borland chips mentioned by Jay Sands, most collectors know of them and the price that these chips fetch nowadays is low, whether or not they are the originals or Borlands. I'm looking to collect the counterfeit coin-in-center chips (I believe Gene T says that these were done by Carl Osborne)and their authentic counterparts and I don't see anything wrong in collecting these. The damage, pricewise, has already been done...the information is there to determine what is real and what is not real. The challenge is now to assemble a complete set!!
