July 19, 2004Gunman steals gambling chips from Spirit Mountain Casino
GRAND RONDE — The Oregon State Police is looking for an armed man who made off with about $15,000 worth of gambling chips early Sunday after threatening a blackjack dealer with a gun.The theft took place about 3 a.m. at the Spirit Mountain Casino when a blackjack dealer was preparing an empty table for play, said Spirit Mountain Casino spokesperson Siobhan Loughran.
The gunman was described as white and in his early 20s.
Loughran said the chips were redeemable only at Spirit Mountain and are now worthless.
No one was injured in the robbery. The state police is reviewing surveillance tape of the incident.

Not in the largest Oregon paper, The Oregonian (If It's News In Oregon, It's News To The Oregonian!) but I heard a radio report a couple of days ago and nothing more either or since until I found this. Very mysterious how these chips "are now worthless." Oooooooo, aaaaaah.
