You make a good point with all your research and I am sceptical as well. I have no vested interest in these chips, but the lack of a green chip on the "MSC" order forms makes me wonder if they were ordered in another bunch.
Also, the rubber stamp seemed unusual to me to, but I doubt they were used to jack the price up. The reason I say this is that the "original" owner of these chips from Hawaii was selling them at $3-5 apiece, including the stamped ones. I think if fraud was the game, these chips would have been marked much higher (and would have sold!) The extreme price of these has come from the secondary market.
I think they are worth around $10 apiece (whether from Muskegan Club or SS Monte Carlo) and should be questionable until the green chip listing is found.
