David,
I will check with Gene when he gets back. I have never heard of using xray unless the repair was to an inlay and the wrong weight was used. No repair and I repeat no repair can go undetected under a 40 power or better glass. Sorry......
Whether individuals turn people in for unreported income can and is a difficult decision. In a criminal trial a defendant is entitled to face his/her accuser. Therefore, the government can and will make available to the defense any and all "rap letters" involving the defendant. A "rap letter" will disclose who made the allegation. Phone calls are documented and unless the person calling leaves their real name and phone number, the government usually throws the allegation in the trash.
It has ALWAYS been my advice to any client if they wished to do such a thing they best have the proof. Reason - civil law suit will result with judgement going to the injured party.
I have had many divorce situations where the wife or the husband turns in the respective spouse. The person turning in usually forgets that a joint return was filed .
Best, Jim
