I have one comment on Chipco's retention of the copyrights; that's a subject of negotiation between the casino and the manufacturer -- but if I was representing the casino, there is NO WAY I would agree to a contract which allowed Chipco to retain the copyright to the artwork which went into one of my chips. I must say, I'm surprised that Chipco has these copyrights rather than the casinos.
Did not mean to imply in my previous post that there was no copyrightable interest in the chip designs. If I left that impression, I'm sorry. All I meant was that an individual attempting to sell one of the chips can, without violating the copyright laws, display a photograph (or scan) of the chip for potentional buyers to see. Any other commercial use of the image would almost certainly be a copyright violation.
