The plastic chips are becoming less popular around the world. Not too long ago these were widely used throughout Europe, South America and Asia. Within the last 20-years, more and more American-style chips are replacing the plastic "French-style" chips. What you say is very true, Kerry, as the plastic chips are not meant to be stacked and cut the way clays are. If you ever notice a French wheel/table, you'll see that the chips and plaques are laid out horizontally from the wheel out to the green, on long grooved racks. The chips are hardly touched by dealer's hands during play and players hardly place their own bets (the table is too big).
