I will not comment on the decision the authors have made regarding the "added value of a chip to be equal to the repair"
I do however share Mr.Perlowski's concern that these repairs will add ammunition for the slabbers to re enter the hobby.
Anyone looking to purchase a chip of significant value now has to virtually examine the chip under a microscope to assure that no alteration has taken place.
If assurance is made by the grading company that a slabbed chip is in fact authentic, I'm sure there are those among us who may opt for this service.
While I speak without an answer to this dilema, it seems that the only answer would be to prevent these repairs from taking place.
What ever happened to the assurance we had from Mr. Whalen that he would in some form make an indication upon the chips he has "repaired" to show this action?
Remember slabbing is not dead it is simply dormant at this time and we must ALL recognize the SEVERE negative effects this could have upon our hobby
