Therer was an earlier thread where this question was raised. One of the authors explained their logic. Their logic is also summarized in TCR Note #21. While I disagree with their thinking, it is their book & I understand their reasoning. I think a number of people have made their opinions known to the authors. I also agree with your statement about encouraging alterations. I have a Monte Carlo, Reno, $2.50 with a hot stamped "no cash value" cancellation that could easily be removed, increasing the value of the chip. However, I, similar to you, am not from the ethically challenged generation, And, finally, this book is only a guide and I for one will disregard a price increase for a modified chip.
