I know what you’re thinking, but you have to consider the source. It’s me, Dave Smith, the CRAZY guy from New Hampshire, and I have an idea…
A few months ago I ran an auction here on The Chip Board to raise funds for the New Hampshire Food Bank. Thanks to the generosity of my fellow chippers, and Home Depot (my employer) matching funds, we raised $224.00.
Over the past few weeks I’ve been thinking of a way to raise even more. I’ve come up with an idea that will benefit the NH Food Bank and the Building Fund. Here’s what I plan to do…
Sometime after Labor Day I’m going to auction the largest single lot of casino / poker / gambling chips ever assembled. I’m going to auction the lot on . The lot will consist of (gulp) 500+ chips. Nope, that’s not a typo. I’m going to auction a single lot of 500+ chips. I’ve got this all figured out except for one minor detail. Ummm… I don’t have 500 chips. So, that’s where you come in. I’m asking for donations in the form of chips. Any chips. Casino chips, poker chips, old gambling chips, roulette chips, UFCs, chips from illegal clubs, foreign chips, any chip! Send me one chip from your local casino. Send me a handful of your low value traders. Send me one chip, or a bubble mailer full. All donors will be acknowledged here on The Chip Board and in the auction description.
OK, now how does this benefit the Building Fund? Simple. All proceeds from this auction will be split 50/50 with the New Hampshire Food Bank and the Building Fund. Think about that for a second. What do you think a single lot of 500+ chips will sell for on eb? It’s got to go for at least $25, right? As soon as I post the auction I will post here with a link. This should be a blast to watch.
Oh yeah… the Fine Print. In addition to a few chips, my donation to this project will be as follows: I will pay for the listing fee and the shipping / packing / insurance costs. (Did I mention that this lot will have free shipping?) I will deduct the final value fee from the proceeds. Sorry, but I have to do that. If the lot sells for over a grand, which it very well may, I simply can’t afford the final value fee. Why am I waiting until after Labor Day to run the auction? Two reasons. One, I need time to assemble 500+ chips. Two, I don’t believe has the audience to support this effort during the summer months.
I’ve run this idea by a few chippers and have received unanimous support. In fact, I’ve already received 32 donated chips. Thanks to Victor Salnicky, Don Tassie, Jason Skinner, and Richard Fellman. Nice Bunnies all!
Please give my idea some thought. Send me a chip and raise some money for the Building Fund, and Help Feed Some Hungry Little Kids.
Thanks.
