Just ot give some of you a bit of a new member perspective on this:
The original post simply posed this question to the membership:
>>>do we really need a building fund?
That seems like a reasonable and logical question to me. As a new member, I certainly don't know how I feel about it as I am not aware of the history of this project and haven't heard all the pros and cons etc.
What I would have expected as a response to such a question is the leadership to put forth their case for the project (they should be prepared for such questions).
Instead, some members immediately jumped on the offensive even going so far as to attack the person who posed the question (focusing on the word "scam" is really a red herring and irrelevant to the question at hand).
I realize that these boards can tend to become "old boy" networks (it's clearly seen in all the "thanks so and so" and "so and so is so great" and "I loved seeing so and so" messages) and thus there will be a natural tendency to defend your own.
However, you should at least recognize that there are new members here who might just like to see the question answered...
FWIW....
